Director - Mandla Mbothwe
'Love, Crime and Johannesburg' is a colourfully costumed, energetic and vibrant production. Written by Junction Avenue Theatre Company and set in post-apartheid Johannesburg.
With humour, song and satirical comment, the play follows the journey of Jimmy 'Longlegs' Mangane - a 'poet and hero of the struggle' - who is accused of robbing a bank with "two AK47's and a hand grenade".
Now that the light is on, who is to blame for what we see?
Now that our lips are unglued, can we say what we like?
Now that our hands are untied, can we take whatever we want?
Does the play answer these questions? Come along and find out.
